TBC wins “Responsible Large Company of the Year” award

TBC won two awards in the Georgian competition for responsible businesses “Meliora 2024”.

In the Grand Prix category of the competition – “Responsible Large Company of the Year”. TBC received the award for its outstanding work in addressing environmental, social and governance challenges for its employees, customers, the environment and society.

TBC has always been aware of its important role in social development. As a leading financial institution and one of the largest companies in Georgia, TBC implements the highest standards of social responsibility and sustainable development; guided by high ethical principles and a strong internal culture. TBC has a significant impact on the financial, economic and social development of Georgia.

TBC won the second place in this category – “Hardness and reporting on corporate responsibility and sustainability.” The above-mentioned TBC award was presented for the 2022 Sustainability Report.

Starting in 2019, as its business grew, TBC began publishing an annual sustainability report. The report provides all stakeholders with fact-based information on the social, economic and environmental impact of TBC Bank’s activities. The first sustainability report was prepared with the help of external consultants, and from 2020, TBC’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) department is responsible for preparing the report. The report is prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards.

Category to be determined – “Hardness and reporting on corporate responsibility and sustainability issues”, This is the second win for the bank, which first won at the Meliora 2022 awards ceremony for its 2021 Sustainability Report.

Projects implemented by TBC were finalists in two other categories of the competition and received certificates of recognition. These are: the “TBS x USAID Technology Education” project in the “Community Support” category and the collaboration between TBC and the company “Polyvim” for the collection and recycling of plastic waste in the “Green Initiatives” category.

The “Georgian Responsible Business Competition – Meliora” annually selects and rewards examples of projects implemented in the field of corporate social responsibility by large and small and medium-sized companies operating in Georgia. TBC is a multiple winner of the competition. He was named the winner of awards in various categories for 2018-2019 and 2022.

The event was organized by the Centre for Strategic Studies and Development of Georgia (CSRDG) within the framework of the project “Civil Society Initiatives” funded by the European Union (EU) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS).
