Some citizens from the North Duhail region appreciated the efforts of the Public Works Authority “Ashghal” in developing infrastructure in various regions of the country, including the project to develop the internal road network and infrastructure in the North Duhail region.
In statements made to Al Arabiya during the site visit, they stressed the need to speed up the work on the development project, which has been suspended for some time and shows no signs of resuming completion in the near future, they said. They said that they found it painful to move around the area due to the narrow entrances and exits to the houses caused by the excavations and barriers set up for safety and security, and that some special events were postponed due to the lack of sufficient parking spaces to accommodate guests at parties. They also pointed out that access to the sewage pool was difficult due to the poor condition of the streets, which necessitated the need for temporary replacement of the excavated streets to extend the sewage network, causing damage to vehicles.
They said that when we asked the Public Works Authority “Ashghal” about the reasons for the delay, the authority used the excuse of issuing a new tender for the project, without giving a specific date for the resumption of work and the end of the project. The person in charge of the project explained that the actual project deadline has passed since August last year and they do not know the new date for the end of the project. We hope that the authorities will take into account the pain that the excavation work has caused them and work to speed up the completion of the project so that the people of the region can benefit from the services, just like residents across the country who enjoy it. A high-level infrastructure that is in line with the level of development of the country.
Work stopped
Saad Al-Ghanim, a resident of the North Duhail area, first said that the construction of the project has been suspended for a long time and there is no sign of resumption of construction in the near future. Adding: When we reviewed the “Works Management Authority”, it explained to us that it is issuing new tenders for the project, but did not specify the time period for issuing tenders or returning works to the project, he said: We value the role played by this agency in the development of our country’s infrastructure, especially residential areas, we commend its efforts in this area and hope that it will work to speed up the work of the North Duhail project, because we, the residents of the area, have suffered damage to their vehicles due to excavation work in the adjacent main street network, although the excavation work in the area is deep, there are still some openings. It is located near Al Fareej Park, which is full of families and children at night, which makes us worry that children will pass through these openings while playing with other children.
The suffering of the people
Mr. Muhammad Al-Dosari, a resident of the area, agreed with his predecessor, adding: The area has suffered due to the delay in the completion of the project, with many residents postponing social activities until the development work is completed, as the excavation in the area is extensive, the temporary replacement streets are very narrow, barely allowing vehicles to enter and exit the area, and there is a lack of parking spaces for vehicles both for residents of the area and their families and visitors and friends.
He called on the Public Works Authority “Ashghal” to set a time period for the completion of the project and to work to speed up the project so that the residents of the area can benefit from the services and resume their normal life and society after the event.
Digging into… Everyday Pain
Mr. Saad Al-Dosari said: With the spread of excavations and obstructions around the commercial areas of the inner streets, it is difficult for residents in the area to use the services of sewage tankers. If they enter the streets to provide services to the houses, the streets must be completely closed until the service is completed, which forces drivers to wait until the tanker is completed or if you go home and encounter a tanker somewhere, choose another route to leave the area. When you reach the neighbor’s house, the vehicle driver must wait until the tanker is finished before he can drive to his house. I hope that the work on the project will resume soon and the rest of the work will be completed.
Vehicle Damage
Mr Mohammed Aljadi, also a resident of the area, said: “I have prepared a photo showing the poor quality of the alternative street and the damage it causes to vehicles, and also showing protruding iron fences in some places. “The alternative road causes damage to vehicles and pedestrians, especially since the streets in the area have no lighting because the development project has not been completed.
He added: “I contacted our brothers in Ashgar and they responded quickly and sent a team to the area. I informed them about the negative impact of the delay in the project and the suffering we have been going through. We, the residents of the area, only want the authorities to speed up and continue with the project in order to resume normal life and get rid of the suffering caused by the excavation and the resulting vehicle and other losses.”
Accelerate business development
Mr. Saleh Rumaihi agreed with what his predecessor said about the need to speed up the work on the project and set a time limit for the resumption of work and completion of the project, as in all the projects of the Authority that accustom us to transparency and said that they were not criticizing the Authority, but rather praising its work and achievements over the past few years, but wanted to speed up the work on the project and put an end to the suffering of the residents of the area due to the current situation.
