Libreville, Wednesday, July 10, 2024 (Gabon News) – The 19th CISSA Conference was opened on Tuesday in Libreville by the Transitional President and Chairman of the National Security Council of the Gabonese Republic.
General Nguema welcomed the convening of the meeting and called on African countries to work together to strengthen intelligence sharing and carry out operational cooperation to achieve a more powerful preventive response.
“The security of our continent must become a matter of concern, requiring the creation of a fully integrated, shared and operational vigilance system, CISSA, which must now see itself as a decision-making tool for African heads of state”, said General Blaise Clotaire, Origi Nguema.
Nearly three hundred participants attended the meeting, which was held after the opening of the 21st meeting of the Expert Group on July 6, where the various speakers discussed security challenges in Africa. Back in February, the Head of State received the Executive Secretary of CISSA, Ms. Zainab Ali Kotoko. The audience was able to address issues related to security on the African continent on the one hand, and the organization of the day’s meeting on the other.
CISA has 54 member states and is affiliated to the Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU). Its basic mission is to develop strategies for peacekeeping, prevention, management, conflict resolution, and socio-economic and health issues in Africa. It was created on August 26, 2004 in Abuja, Nigeria by the African Intelligence and Security Chiefs.
