Oxford Business Group, in partnership with Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, has released its latest video on its Global Platform news platform, titled “Sharjah supports culture and sustainable development to enhance tourism”, which reviews the emirate’s efforts to combine cultural enrichment and sustainability initiatives to stimulate growth in the emirate’s tourism industry.

The video, hosted by Khaled Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, highlights Sharjah’s key role in the UAE’s tourism industry, which is expected to account for more than 9% of the country’s GDP by 2022. Sharjah, a UNESCO-recognised cultural core since 1998, has always advertised itself as a family-friendly and environmentally friendly destination, with tourism accounting for approximately 10% of Sharjah’s non-oil GDP.

The video showcases the huge demand across all age groups in the Emirate of Sharjah and emphasises the elements of safety and family-centric experiences as two fundamental pillars of Sharjah’s tourism industry. The video also highlights key infrastructure developments, including an improved road network and an airport expected to serve 20 million passengers by 2027, underlining Sharjah’s commitment to providing an easy and convenient travel experience for all.

The Emirate of Sharjah occupies a unique position that enables it to participate in sustainable development efforts at the national and international levels, especially following the UAE’s successful hosting of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28). This video highlights Sharjah’s achievements in the field of environmental protection and its effective waste management procedures, which are in line with global sustainable development standards.
