The ABU, in partnership with global partners, is proud to announce the inaugural ABU Diversity & Inclusion Media Awards. Entries are open until 31 July 2024 for ABU member broadcasters operating in the Asia Pacific region.
The award recognises the growing awareness, adoption and implementation of a range of diversity and inclusion activities within specific employment areas by media organisations in the Asia Pacific region.
This is a great opportunity to showcase your organization’s commitment to diversity and inclusion and be recognized for your contribution to promoting a more inclusive media environment.
The award is in line with ABU’s Broadcasting for All: Gender and Diversity in Media initiative, which aims to:
▪ Raise awareness of gender equality, diversity and inclusion in media organizations
▪ Emphasize the need to promote diversity and inclusion through employment practices and workforce representation in the media
▪ Emphasize the need to promote diversity and inclusion in content and services by providing opportunities and telling the stories of all members of society and communities
▪ Demonstrate best practices and innovations in media diversity and inclusion
▪ Recognize and reward the efforts of media organizations
The award focuses on diversity and inclusion in employment practices and representation in the media workforce.
Diversity encompasses gender, disability, race/ethnicity/culture, Indigenous peoples, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, location, socioeconomic status, work and family/life balance, and a positive/inclusive work environment.
The winners will be announced and awarded during the ABU Congress and related conferences hosted by TRT in Istanbul, Turkey in October 2024.
Three awards will be made to ABU broadcast organisations, each receiving a certificate and $400 in funding to invest further in gender equality, diversity and inclusion activities in 2024-2025.
