Government formulates action plan to step up fight against stunting « Government of Timor-Leste

Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Affairs Mariano Assanami Sabino, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, discuss and approve the National Multisectoral Nutrition Action Plan to Combat Dwarfism (Stunting) 2024-2030, known as PANKOS. The plan will then be submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval. The meeting took place on July 9, 2024 at the Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão Auditorium at the Ministry of Finance in Dili.

During the ministerial meeting, the Executive Director of the Mission Unit to Combat Stunting (UNMICS) presented PANKOS, discussing its implementation in accordance with Decree 91/2022, the National Strategic Plan for Development (PED 2011-2030) and the National Action Plan to Eradicate Hunger in Timor-Leste (PANHAMTIL).

Also present were the Minister of Health, the Minister of Social Solidarity, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Minister of Justice, the Deputy Minister of Public Works, the Secretary of State for Livestock representing the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Minister of Livestock and Forestry, the Minister of Planning and Strategic Investments, the Secretary of State for Equality, the Secretary of State for General Secondary Education and Technical Secondary Vocational Education, the Secretary of State for Social Communication, the Executive Director of CONSSAN -TL, the MCAS Coordinator, the UNICEF Nutrition Team and relevant Directors.
