I’m back! ! ! After a three week absence during which I took care of my guests, I can finally tell you about the rest of our adventures!
We have come to our third stop, Dominica: one of the most desolate islands in the Antilles, also known as the island of 365 rivers. So I will let you imagine the humidity there!
The island of Dominica is volcanic in origin and is covered with dense tropical forests from north to south, with countless canyons, rivers and waterfalls on both sides.
Its jagged coast leaves little room for swimming. So the beach is not on the agenda today!
Here is a map of Dominica, just to help you find your way around the article:

The cruise ship docks in the capital: Roseau.
As you can see, this is a very mountainous island.
The highest point is 1,447 meters above sea level.
The French and the British argued over the island’s rights for nearly three centuries, which helps explain why some of the bell towers are familiar to us.
market:
This isn’t just about taking photos on the boat, now we get down to business. So here we are on the bus!
First stop: Taking a photo in front of our super bus is a must! ! !
We started at a small local market…
….Located at a height overlooking the entire Roseau.
Roseau is a town that is better viewed from a distance than from up close!
Zoé loved the view too! “Hi mom!”
The last photo is again amazing at the size of the ship compared to the city!
Getting to Roseau Botanical Gardens:
This is a giant tree (I have no idea what it is!!!):
It can turn into a great hiding place for the girls:
And there are vines growing on it:
There is a person who is not afraid to test his own strength! ! ! !
This big kid had a blast playing Tarzan!!!!
In 1979, Hurricane David destroyed the largest and oldest trees, such as the baobab tree that fell on the bus
The gardens are truly magnificent and it felt so nice to just walk around in nature!
The trees are really impressive and we feel they really benefit from the tropical climate.
The girls were so happy too, running around everywhere!
Léna poses in front of all the trees!
Zoé tries photography:
But it’s all so tiring!
Short break….
…Then we headed towards this giant bamboo again!
It was cut out so we could get under it!
Here are some final photos:
We are back on the road again…
…towards the mountains! More precisely, the Morne Trois Pitons.
Once we got off the boat, we had our rights to the winding roads!
On the way we came across a pineapple field:
Just like that, we arrived at the Emerald Pool.
A short walk in the tropical forest awaits us,
But we know!
There is water everywhere, plus vegetation, it is just amazing.
The waterfall is right in front of you!
Here is the Emerald Pool! The site is very beautiful, but not as beautiful as Guadeloupe! We are getting more and more demanding, it’s crazy!
I couldn’t miss taking a photo in front of the waterfall!!
Now we have to go back!
On the way back, the bus stopped in front of a small house.
Where we settled down,
Quench your thirst!
Zoé is really thirsty!!!
And the views we saw were truly magnificent!
Léna definitely wanted to pose in front of the flowers, so I did!
That’s it! The day is almost over!
The girls are tired!!!!
We took a short tour of Roseau before returning to the ship.
It looks a bit like Pointe à Pitre.
The streets are very narrow and usually one-way:
Shops and houses are not always well maintained:
In short, not good!
The scenery from the boat is still beautiful!
Despite a busy day, Léna still had the energy to hike!
“Cuckoo!!” This cat is truly inexhaustible!!!
There she was, having successfully rung the doorbell!
But we are progressing fast, we have come this far???!!!
After the climb, Léna still had enough energy to go rollerblading!
Feeling progress now, hardly falling anymore!
Oh yes!!! I said it too fast!
Keeping your balance is not easy!
One thing we haven’t done yet: get to the front of the boat
There’s even a helipad! Crazy!!
As you can see, it was very windy!!
I can finally take a photo that says “I’m the king of the world!!!”
Come on, I’ll take care of the rest!
