French electronic duo Braxe + Falcon, made up of cousins Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon, have teamed up with Bibio for a new song titled “All This Love.” Check it out below.
“In 2023, I received a request from Warp Records to remix a beautiful song by Bibio called ‘SOL’, which he did with Olivier St. Louis,” Braxe explained in a statement. “Bibio was very happy with my remix, and then we started talking about music and musical equipment in general, to the point where we thought it would be fun to create an original song together. So I sent Bibio a very basic demo that DJ Falcon and I had made, and from there we started working on the song remotely — in fact, we had never met him in person until now. We chose addiction as the theme of the song; not specifying whether it was substance addiction or relationship addiction, but more about the internal struggle of recovering from this situation.”
“I first discovered Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon in the late 90s when they released music on Roulé,” adds Bibio. “His music was part of the soundtrack of my youth and was an inspiration to me as a budding producer. Music like his shows that sometimes less is more and that recipes can be simple if you have the right ingredients and know how to use them. After they sent me the demo, I recorded the parts on guitar, bass and keyboards and we sent files back and forth. For example, I would play a bass line and they would tweak it and send it back to me and I would learn the tweaked bass line and play it again on bass so it sounded live. It was a new way of working for me and kept things fresh. Alan gave me themes for the lyrics but I wrote them in a way that they could be interpreted in different ways, which is what I like to do with lyrics. “We wanted the song to sound bittersweet but hopeful – the chords move between contrasting emotions, so I wanted the meaning behind the lyrics to fit that.”
Braxe + Falcon returns in 2022 with the Step by Step EP.
