K-index data from ground-based geomagnetic observatories in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Australia were analyzed over the period 1868.0–2009.0 and solar cycles 11–23. Methods included nonparametric trends and statistical significance measures used by the hydrological and climate research community. Of the three observatory groups, the German K-index data systematically recorded the highest perturbation values.
