Global marine geophysical company PGS will participate as a Silver Sponsor at Africa Energy Week (AEW): Investing in African Energy 2024. PGS’ participation in the conference, scheduled for 4-8 November in Cape Town, aims to drive technical discussions around advancing sustainable energy solutions in Africa.
PGS’ core business is to use innovative technologies to improve geophysical understanding and pioneer sustainable exploration practices around the world. PGS is currently merging with data and intelligence company TGS to create a premier energy data company. The merger was approved by the Norwegian Competition Authority earlier this month and will support exploration in Africa and optimize the development of hydrocarbon resources on the continent.
AEW: Invest in African Energy is the platform of choice for project operators, financiers, technology providers and governments and has become the official venue for signing African energy deals. Visit www.AECWeek.com Learn more about this exciting event.
Investing in technology-centric solutions is key to unlocking Africa’s full hydrocarbon potential and achieving sustainable development across the continent
PGS, committed to advancing sustainable energy solutions, recently signed a three-year multi-client survey agreement with the Petroleum Commission of Ghana to acquire seismic data in the Tano Basin. The agreement involves a $2 million investment to reprocess existing data and improve its quality to attract potential investors. Dubbed the “Mega Survey,” the program leverages cutting-edge technology, including public and PGS-owned 3D system datasets, to expand the land area within the basin.
Last November, PGS was awarded a contract for a 4D survey project offshore West Africa, using its GeoStreamer technology to provide high-quality seismic data. PGS has a track record dating back to 2012 and has conducted more than 50 surveys in the region, using specialized vessels such as the Ramform Atlas and Ramform Vanguard, which are used exclusively for West African projects.
Meanwhile, the ongoing PGS survey offshore Egypt – EGY24 Nefertiti – aims to enhance understanding of the shelf and transform margin potential at the western boundary of the area offshore Egypt. Working in partnership with Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, PGS is using its Ramform fleet and GeoStreamer broadband technology to collect detailed data for accurate structural imaging. The resulting dataset holds promise for companies establishing operations in the region, as well as existing operators improving their exploration strategies.
NJ Ayuk (photo), Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber, said: “Investing in technology-centric solutions is key to unlocking Africa’s full hydrocarbon potential and achieving sustainable development across the continent. PGS’s participation in AEW 2024 underscores its commitment to ushering in a new era of data-driven exploration.”
