Lamine Yamal, 16, became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the European Championship as Spain beat France 2-1 in Munich on Tuesday to advance to the 2024 European Championship final.
Spain fell behind in the ninth minute when Randal Kolo Muani headed in a Kylian Mbappe cross, but turned the game around in four minutes, scoring two goals and having conceded just one goal in the previous five games.
Yamal, who will turn 17 the day before Sunday’s final against either the Netherlands or England in Berlin, equalised with a brilliant shot from outside the box, curling into the top corner and eluding an aerial-oop from Mike Maignan.
Spain took the lead in the 25th minute when Dani Olmo expertly collected the loose ball and fired a low shot into the net after being blocked by Jules Kounde.

Spain, masters of midfield control, shut up once they took the lead, often kept possession rather than counter-attacking, and controlled the game and prevailed.
Three-time champions Spain became the first team to win six straight European Championships and are just one step away from a record-breaking fourth title.
Having reached the finals of three of the past four major tournaments, one has to wonder why France, despite its enviable attacking prowess, has failed to excel up front.
France had scored just three goals before the game, none of which had been scored by a French player in open play, and coach Didier Deschamps responded by bringing on striker Antoine Griezmann for Ousmane Dembele.

Four minutes into the game, Yamal created the first chance of the game, curling a pass to an unmarked Fabian Ruiz, who headed over the crossbar from close range.
Four minutes later, Mbappe dribbled down the left and fired a shot identical to Yamal’s cross, but Kolo Muani’s header found the back of the net to give France the lead.
Before the game, eyes were on Spanish veterans Jesus Navas (38) and Nacho (34), who replaced the suspended Dani Carvajal and Robin Le Normand, while youngsters Aymeric Laporte and Marc Cucurella also took the blame for Kolo Muani’s opener.
France’s goal seemed to have demoralized Spain, but the youngest player on the pitch scored a brilliant goal to equalize the score.

Yamal received the ball outside the penalty area, cut inside, took one look at the goal, and fired a perfect arc shot into the top left corner.
Yamal already has three assists at Euro 2024, and with this goal he became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the tournament, beating the previous record by a year and a half.
Lamar’s goal ignited Spain’s attack 13 minutes into the game for France, and four minutes later, Spain took the lead with Olmo’s goal.
Olmo leapt up with an acrobatic move, received the cleared cross, shook off his defender and shot towards goal, his shot was blocked by Kounde and bounced into the goal.
With five minutes remaining, France’s best chance to force extra time fell to their captain, but Mbappe’s shot went over the crossbar, with only goalkeeper Unai Simon able to save it.
