The first personal computerAppleknown as the Apple-1, which sat in the office of Steve Jobs, the visionary founder of Apple Inc., was auctioned on July 19 at Christie’s in New York.
Organizers hope to sell the highly coveted item — a cube-shaped screen that looks like a TV, plus a keyboard built into the box — for between $500,000 and $800,000.

They described it as “the first motherboard sold to the publicPerfect assemblyComputer.
Apple-1 First launched in 1976is part of the collection of Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen, who prized a range of objects – computing or exploring space – that Christie’s defines as “artifacts that defined an era and pushed the limits of human creativity.”
It also includes the first computer Allen used with Bill Gates, called the PDP-10, which consisted of a black cabinet the size of two adult humans, leaning against a wall, but was already capable of interactive and real-time computing.
