In the northern provinces, first in Poia, the gendarmerie banned traffic in both directions. They made several attempts to remove the existing roadblocks and clear the road. According to the gendarmerie, the queue of cars on the road grew longer, but at 5:30 pm, traffic resumed. According to some local residents, the roadblocks have been replaced.

Further north, the road to Houaïlou is also closed. At 5pm, the law enforcement intervention was still ongoing. Since midday this Tuesday, the mobile gendarmes, supported by GIGN personnel, have been working to restore order in the town. Above all, it is a question of clearing a lane that is blocked by multiple roadblocks.

Police are also working to identify the perpetrators of several incidents of abuse and blocking, including Town Hall 1yes Legislative round. Three people have been arrested and the operation is expected to continue for several days.

As a result of these police actions, La Conception College was evacuated. The institution remains closed until further notice. Like other institutions in the vicinity.

During the night between Sunday and Monday, two nuns, the “Little Girls of Mary”, were evacuated from Saint-Louis. According to our sources, while they were at the sister’s house in the parish, young men allegedly threatened them with weapons and asked them to leave the premises. As a result, the two sisters were evacuated by the gendarmes at 1:30 am and headed for Nouméa.

The young man also entered the presbytery last week and has been living there since then. The priest is currently not in the area.
