An 18-year-old man is accused of fleeing police in a reported stolen car, crashing the vehicle and catching it on fire, and telling the arresting officer “I’m fine, I just got assaulted,” according to a sheriff’s complaint filed in Superior Court. Jack Kaiser was charged Monday with grand theft, receiving stolen property, a second-degree felony, as well as unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, evading police and reckless driving. At 1:10 a.m. Sunday, an officer leaving the Tumon Tamuning precinct noticed a Toyota Venza suddenly lurch forward, cross a lane, and then lurch again to correct course. The officer activated the lights and sirens, but the driver, later identified as Kaiser, continued westbound, ignoring different sirens used by the officer.
