The restoration work of Varketili Ghakhokidze Street has started and is expected to be completed within 9 months.

Another important infrastructure project of the capital is being launched – the comprehensive restoration of Mikheil Ghakhokidze Street in the Samgori district. On the aforementioned street, in recent years, the old and amortized underground communication system is damaging the carriageway of the road, creating the worst conditions, which causes great discomfort when moving. The first thing to do is to completely renew the underground communications. The worst conditions on the road are caused by poor communications. The street is about three kilometers long. The first stage is the company GWP work, and the next stage is the arrangement of the road infrastructure. We will have the same attitude here too. Our approach is to create new design streets. This project will also be implemented with this design. Overhead wires will be placed in underground cable channels, outdoor lighting networks will be arranged, and modern LED lanterns will be installed. The road will be paved with asphalt, sidewalks will be set up. The street infrastructure is adapted for people with disabilities. The works will start on July 12 and will be completed in nine months. During this period, only citizens living in the surrounding areas will be able to drive on the street, and cars driving from the side of the Kakheti highway will pass through the streets of Georgi Abashvili, Romanos Khomleli and other solidarity fighters of Georgia and its connecting roads. Activity will also be allowed on Dimitri Aleksidze, Cecilia Takaishvili, Yotham Zedgenidze, Viktor Kupradze, Racha, Friendship, Peace and Evgenia Maisuradze streets. Kaha Kaladze said at the meeting that detailed information on changes in minibus traffic will be published on the City Hall website.
