After intensive monitoring patrols and identification of targeted locations, a location in Aziziyah community was identified as one where food was prepared in an unhygienic manner and did not meet necessary hygiene requirements, and about 890 kg of food used at the location was destroyed.

Engineer Amr Al-Daqs, Director General of Monitoring and Addressing Negative Phenomena at Jeddah Municipality, explained that the monitoring is carried out in cooperation with the “Foreign Workers Housing Committee”, which converts housing units into kitchens to prepare food for foreign workers and distribute it to local restaurants in the city.

The main violations were poor hygiene levels, poor preservation and storage of food and meat, as well as the use of food ingredients unfit for human consumption and processing under unhygienic conditions.

After the violation was discovered, the website was shut down and all necessary legal measures were taken to ensure that such illegal activities do not occur in the future.

The Jeddah Municipality also confirmed that it will continue its efforts to monitor and control illegal activities in residential areas and commended the effective cooperation of residents in reporting any illegal activities through the 940 Reporting Service Center.
