Child injured after being hit by car at ETH: Cayman News Service

(CNS): A little girl has been treated and released from hospital after she was hit by a car near the Island Heritage roundabout on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway on Saturday night, police said. Police did not release the girl’s age but said she was struck just before 9:30 p.m. with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police investigating the incident are appealing for witnesses to come forward, but they did not provide any details about the vehicle or driver.

The collision comes on the heels of another sad weekend on Cayman Islands roads. One death A car accident occurred in Bodden Town.

Despite an intensified road safety campaign, incidents like these continue to occur. RCIPS officers are conducting high-visibility policing operations and traffic enforcement across the island, focusing on persistent road safety offences and poor driving behaviour, including speeding, drink-driving, inconsiderateness and distracted driving. Chief Superintendent Brad Ebanks once again urged the public to drive safely and said road users will see more speeding enforcement at night.

However, this ongoing activity does not seem to have had a noticeable impact on road users, with traffic accidents of all sizes continuing. Halfway through this year, another eight people have lost their lives on local roads.
