Our commitment to combating drug trafficking is more than just an obligation; it is a testament to our shared values and resolve.
Speaking at the Namosi Provincial Council meeting, Assistant Commissioner of Police Sakio Ganiwatu urged members to work together to mitigate the illegal drug trade and its impact in the country.
“This is not something we are asked to do, we should do it out of sheer will, our love and our dedication to this country,” Mr Ganiwatu said.
“It shows the world our values — the values of our culture, our traditions, our country and our way of life.
“This shows the importance of protecting these values from issues like this.
“When illegal drugs seep into the rural environment, it changes the way we live.”
Mr Ganiwatu reminded members of Parliament to encourage provincial governments and police to collaborate to eradicate the drug trade in Fiji.
“Not all officers are bad, but there are some bad ones and we are committed to removing them from the organization.
“The law applies to everyone and no one is above the law,” he said.
