We learned from the police and prosecutors on Monday that the dismembered body of a woman found in Niort on Saturday is currently undergoing an autopsy to verify whether it is that of the missing mother, whose partner is currently being sought.
The gruesome discovery took place at the doorstep of an apartment in the sensitive Ponte Vecchio district. When police intervened at the home of a 27-year-old female “victim of violence” who had been missing for a week, “a man with a bag” appeared, which contained “members of a female corpse,” a police source said.
The man detained by the police reported that the victim’s “spouse was contacting him”. The latter then allegedly asked him to “collect the bag and put it in the cellar”. He was acquitted and released, according to the same source. The court is aware that the companion of the missing woman is currently on the run and is subject to a search warrant.
An autopsy is underway and an investigation is underway
According to The New Republic, the latter recorded two live videos on the social network TikTok on Monday morning, without showing his face, to make sure that he did not kill the young woman. He also posted two photos of the two hugging.
“It is not possible to formally identify the victim at this stage,” Niort prosecutor Julien Wattebled said in a press release, noting that firefighters also intervened at the home at the request of a third party.
Three children were found in the victim’s home, aged 18 months, 4 years old and 7 years old.
The magistrate noted that the autopsy scheduled for Monday afternoon at the Poitiers Forensic Institute should be able to “determine the cause of death and take the samples necessary for identification.”
The judicial police departments in Niort and Poitiers have opened investigations into the murder.
