The Government of the People’s Republic of China is eagerly awaiting Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele’s first state visit to Beijing this week, which will ultimately be aimed at “working towards developing relations between the two countries”.

Premier Li Qiang invites Prime Minister Manele to visit China starting from 9thday– 15day July.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning stated a few days before Prime Minister Manele’s arrival that the Government of the People’s Republic of China is committed to developing relations with the Solomon Islands.

The Mao spokesman made the remarks in response to a reporter’s question on the strategic importance of China-Solomon Islands relations during the first state visit of Solomon Islands Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele to China.

“China is committed to developing friendship and cooperation with the Solomon Islands and other Pacific island countries, and to contributing to their economic and social development, improving people’s lives and achieving development and prosperity.”

Solomon Islands Ambassador to China, His Excellency Barrett Sarato, confirmed that Prime Minister Manele will visit several provinces of the Solomon Islands and hold strategic dialogues with local government leaders, and travel to the Chinese capital, Beijing, to meet with President Xi Jinping and senior leaders to exchange views on China-Solomon Islands relations and major development issues.

His Excellency Sarato elaborated that the CPC and the Government of National Unity and Transition are also expected to sign a series of documents to guide specific interests.

“The SPS agreement is one of the expected outcomes for the export/import of agricultural and fishery products between Solomon Islands and China,” Ambassador Sarato stressed.

Both at home and abroad, the position of the leader of the Nigerian National Unity Alliance and Prime Minister Manele has been sincere and resolute, which is consistent with what he said in his election victory statement… “discharging his duties diligently and with integrity, always putting the interests of the people and the country first.”

Building a community with a shared future for China and Solomon Islands featuring everlasting friendship, solidarity, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation is a decision made by the two countries based on the strategic height of long-term development of mankind, with a global vision and the concept of putting people first.
