Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Qassam Brigades, appeared to say in passing: “All 24 of our brigades, together with other resistance groups, fought and defeated the enemy in all parts of the Gaza Strip.
However, the reference to the 24th Brigade in Abu Obeida’s latest speech on Sunday is worth stopping to think about.
The Qassam Brigades did go to war on October 7 with 24 brigades. The fact that their numbers remain the same nine months after Israel’s brutal genocide can only mean one thing: the Palestinian resistance in Gaza remains as strong as ever.
So what is going on? Abu Obeida gave some clues in his speech. For example, he said thousands of new fighters have been recruited since the war began. He said the resistance has continued to build weapons despite no outside forces coming to its rescue.
