XI’AN, April 7 (Xinhua) — Myanmar’s presidential palace said on the 7th that as more and more countries participate in the “Belt and Road” initiative, Myanmar is studying how to participate in it.

Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw made the remarks on Friday during a visit to Xi’an, capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi province.

Xi’an is the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and is also home to the world-famous Terracotta Warriors.

Shaanxi is also at the heart of the Belt and Road Initiative, an initiative proposed by China in 2013 to build a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia, Europe and Africa along the ancient Silk Road trade routes and surrounding areas.

Wu Tingjue, who visited the Terracotta Warriors on Friday afternoon, said he hoped to strengthen cooperation with Shaanxi in areas such as trade and vocational training.

Myanmar President Rama IX paid a six-day visit to China from April 6 to 11. The accompanying delegation consisted of more than 30 people, including the ministers of Myanmar’s Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Construction.
