Damascus (SANA) – The People’s Assembly affirmed that May 29, 1945 is a great memory in the life of the Syrian people, which will continue to be a beacon that illuminates the path of free peoples and freedom fighters, and a lesson of heroism and liberation for generations, and said: “The hero of the parliamentary garrison faced the soldiers of the brutal French invaders.” He said: “He stood there, refused to salute the French flag, and shed innocent blood for the Syrian flag and land.”
“This anniversary is full of the flavor of glorious history and is a symbol of the nobility and pride of the Syrian people. Throughout their long history, and until today, they have been a school and example for all nations,” the parliament said in a declaration on the seventy-ninth anniversary of the martyrdom of the parliamentary garrison, to be issued tomorrow.
In his speech, the Congress paid tribute to the souls of the martyrs of the Congress garrison and the great Syrian martyrs, who watered the land of their motherland with their pure souls and blood, dedicated to the values of resistance and martyrdom.
