911 service has been restored after an outage of approximately two hours. “Our telecommunications service provider performed the necessary repairs to their equipment and all E-911 emergency hotlines have been restored to service. Both the E-911 Communications Center and our telecommunications service provider continue to monitor the system,” said Nick Garrido, a spokesperson for the Guam Fire Department. Garrido announced at approximately 11 a.m. that 911 wireless and landline services were currently unavailable. Anyone who has needed GFD, Emergency Medical Services, or the Guam Police Department within the last two hours is asked to report to the nearest fire station or police station. Garrido told The Washington Post that they are not aware of any 911 calls that were missed due to the system outage; however, he explained that if service is unavailable, calls are routed to alternate sites.
