According to officials, the money will be used to support the former deputy governor and his youth organisation in carrying out a massive anti-Kush drug awareness campaign in the country.
Former West Bank deputy governor, Musa Susso and his youth dialogue group, Kick Kush Out of The Gambia Chapter, will embark on a sensitization campaign in The Gambia’s North Bank region from Barra and Esho on Saturday.
Youth Dialogue is dedicated to drug and illicit substance awareness and prevention. The awareness tour aims to educate communities in the North Shore region, Barra and Esho on the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of preventive measures.
Suso was playing with Key Points Speaking in an interview on the importance of combating this deadly drug in the country, he added: “I am extremely concerned about the increasing number of young Gambians losing their lives to the deadly Kush. Also, most of these youths lack awareness about the dangers of this deadly drug.
“So we want to launch a massive campaign in the North Shore region to make residents in the North Shore region aware of the dangers of using these drugs. This is the worst affected region in the country and the youth in the region have started to decline due to the abuse of Kush.”
The former WCR deputy governor also praised Jawara’s move, saying, “It is worthwhile to support youth organizations in such awareness campaigns as it will go a long way in reducing drug use in the country. This once again clearly shows that he (Jawara) cares about the interests and development of the youth of the country.”
Dr. Abubakary Jawara, Chief Executive Officer, GACH Global Group, expressed happiness over the youth initiative and said it was crucial to combat the growing phenomenon of drug abuse and promote a healthier and safer society.
Jawara called on all Gambians to work together in efforts to combat the menace of Kush in the country, saying: “We are committed to supporting any initiative that is meant to promote the development of the youths of the country and any initiative that is meant to combat issues that affect the youths of the country. We want the country to be a safe zone for the youths.”
