It is unwise to throw a stone into the well from which we drink, as this may disturb it and isolate it later, which means a complete failure in the fair competition of managing water and reaching the highest level of opportunism.

Since the first day of the aggression on Gaza, many Palestinian leaders have stood up to defend the rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to self-defense, and refuted Israel’s claim that its aggression on Gaza can be considered self-defense, even though this claim contradicts Article 51 of the UN Charter. However, many countries in the world fell for it and began to promote Israel’s right to self-defense, but many countries sometimes participated in armed and sometimes participated in direct combat. The same is true for countries such as the United States, Britain and France.

One of the most capable defenders of Palestinian rights is Brother Mustafa Barghouti, Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative. Creative most of the time, his calmness, logic, language and command of information qualify him to be the face of a successful media on all platforms.

We have become accustomed to Brother Mustafa’s demands for the reform of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and sometimes even go beyond this demand to demand a unified leadership, which actually constitutes an alternative to the Palestine Liberation Organization, because demanding a unified leadership in a divided situation is an effective recipe for the elimination of the only legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. If the Palestinians are united, a unified leadership is needed in the current situation.

Since Dr. Mustafa is part of the PLO and its leadership, his participation in the conference is reprehensible, to say the least, and represents, whether intentionally or unintentionally, an attempt to undermine the PLO and create alternative or complementary institutions that will not enjoy national, regional or international legitimacy, that will deprive the Palestinian people of their unity of representation, and thus give the enemy enough time to change reality to ensure that the State of Palestine will not be established.

He has participated in meetings in more than one place, like what happened in Doha, as if Doha was independent, neutral and concerned about the unity of the Palestinian people, and most recently in Rome with Israeli non-official people, when he is at the top of the pyramid of power, not to mention that during a war that Israel claims to exist, Israeli society is united in supporting its government in waging war, and the divisions within Israeli society have nothing to do with hitting the Palestinian people, although it is important. Out of respect for the blood shed by the people of Gaza and the West Bank, and considering the feelings of the people who have suffered genocide, this timing is not appropriate.

Therefore, I call on all the cadres of the Palestinian people who have comments on the PLO, of which I am one, that the reforms must be purely Palestinian, not follow any agenda, and must come from within the framework. I pay special tribute to all the distinguished people who are the majority who participated in a conference that could have led to a deepening of the divisions and a fragmentation of the Palestinian representative structure.
