The swearing-in ceremony of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Gozotan was organized by GRCFourteen mayors and 14 deputy mayors from Gozo were sworn in after receiving the highest and second highest number of votes from local majority groups respectively.

The ceremony, organised by Gozo Regional Council and held at Cittadella, began with the playing of the Gozo National Anthem, written by Gozo poet Gorge Pisani, composed by conductor Joseph Vera and performed by Michela Paes and the Island Brass Quintet.

Regional Chairman Dr. Samuel Azzopardi spoke at the event, stressing the importance of reflection when serving citizens.

The Gozo President stressed that the ceremony was also a time of reflection and commitment as local leaders formally stepped into their roles, a role that was ultimately given to them through the trust of the people, and that they would begin a rewarding journey of work to protect and improve Gozo’s Local Council.The swearing-in ceremony of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Gozotan was organized by GRCHe thanked all those who volunteered to serve the people, including those elected, unelected and those who retired from local politics.

He assured them that the Gozo District Council would continue to provide ongoing assistance and support to all local councils towards a better future for Gozo.

After the 14 mayors and 14 deputy mayors were formally sworn in, the ceremony ended with the singing of the Maltese national anthem.

In attendance were Gozo Regional President Dr Samuel Azzopardi, Gozo Planning Minister Clint Camilleri, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Animal Rights Anton Refalo, Gozo Parliamentarians, the Commissioner for Justice, the Archdeacon of the Diocese of Gozo, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillors and the Executive Secretary.
