Iraqi Airways announces it will begin operating flights between Baghdad and Beijing after a 10-year hiatus

In a statement received by Al-Sumaria News, the government said, “According to the instructions of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi, it is necessary to expand the destinations of the national airline to various regional and international sectors. Iraqi Airways, after several years of suspension, the US government announced the opening of direct flights from Baghdad to Beijing. On Saturday afternoon, the first flight from Baghdad International Airport to Beijing Daxing International Airport was officially launched.

Manaf Abdel Moneim, the company’s general manager, said: “The resumption of operations of this important route between Iraq and China, the second of its kind after the (Guangzhou) line, is an important step, especially as it will open new prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries,” the statement said.

Abdul Moneim continued: “The number of scheduled flights on this sector is set at two flights per week, returning from Iraq on Saturday and Tuesday and from Beijing on Sunday and Wednesday, in addition to allocating the latest aircraft to serve the route, which is a Dreamliner known for long-distance travel and high travel luxury.”
