“No wan tra fas no de…Chan musu gwe!”, was the message of Rabin Parmessar, leader of the New Democracy faction, after the end of the Suriname National Democratic Party (NDP) 37th anniversary roadshow on Thursday.

Palmesar said his party chairman, Desi Bouterse, who has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and has been in hiding for months, had witnessed firsthand the efforts to ensure victory in the 2025 elections.

“You have to win the election! No face…Chan must go! No wan tra fas…Chan musu gwe!” Parmessar continued.

The politician noted that the current situation of certain groups in Suriname is due to the poor policy choices of the Santoki-Brunswijk government. The general crime rate is also a concern, especially when the police cannot even get fuel and more than 300 police officers have been forced to retire and deployed elsewhere.

Therefore, if Palmesar has his way, elections could be held immediately.

“Fadatikan? The crime involved more than 300 police officers. The man who was responsible was Haiti, but the crime was not stopped. We are Surinamese first. We have a great mission to stand up for this country, for our people. As our leaders told us: Suriname belongs to the Surinamese.

We will share everything we have. No one comes to rule here. We Surinamese decide the direction and policies of Suriname. Nothing can decide gi unu. Meki is an election kon tamara because the NDP klari…unu prepares for gi a election kba unu,” Parmessar said.
