Greenheart Suriname employees expressed concerns about the possible closure of operations in West Suriname.
They learned through international reports that the parent company, Greenheart Group Limited (GP), planned to shut down its forestry and wood processing activities.
However, the news has not been officially confirmed by the company itself.
The reason for the closure was continued losses.
Despite this report, employees and union representatives have not received any official communication from Greenheart Group Limited.
The unions called on the parent company to quickly provide clarity on the future of its employees and business activities in Suriname.
Furthermore, it called for a constructive dialogue with the relevant authorities to protect the interests of employees.
