JAKARTA (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and the Turkish Air Force (THK) held talks in Ankara on Monday (July 1) to explore the possibility of cooperation to strengthen the air defense capabilities of the two countries.
According to a TNI AU press release cited on Thursday, the talks took place during a meeting between TNI AU Chief of Staff Mohamad Tonny Harjono and THK Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadolu at the THK headquarters.
During the courtesy visit, the two leaders discussed the possibility of exchanging soldiers between the Indonesian National Army and the Thai Army, as well as transferring technical knowledge related to major weapons defense systems.
In addition to calling for military cooperation, Haryono and Kadolu also discussed air defense issues facing Indonesia and Türkiye.
The TNI AU leader expressed optimism that his visit to the THK headquarters will promote continued harmonious military relations between Indonesia and Turkey.

Earlier, Haryono carried out several activities during his official visit to Turkey on Saturday (June 29), including visiting Baykar Technology in Istanbul to learn about the development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and artificial BroadCast Unitedligence (AI).
Baykar Technology, a Turkish defense company that specializes in manufacturing drones and developing artificial BroadCast Unitedligence, has been supporting Turkey’s defense capabilities.
During the visit, Hajono and his assistants were briefed on the advanced technology used in Baykal Technology’s drones.
The Air Force Chief of Staff also visited the Baikal Tech Company plant in Çorlu, where he had the opportunity to witness a flight demonstration of the company’s high-altitude and long-endurance combat drone Bayraktar Akinci.
