Pokosi regains dominance in women’s football at National Games

State Pokochi Won the gold medal in women’s soccer 2024 Guanacaste National Gamesdefeated Escazu 3-1 in a thrilling match Edgardo Baltodano Stadium, Liberia.

The Caribbean women’s team won gold again after winning the gold medal at the 2019 San Jose Sports Games.

The match had dangerous moves in both frames and caused widespread controversy, but it was the Pocosi team that was most persistent in finding the opposite frame.

The Lemons took the lead in the 14th minute on a Raquel Flores header, a fair reward for a team that started with the strongest defense.

Escazuceña responded and in the 42nd minute they equalized the score through a goal from Fiorella Delgado, who also scored her fifth goal, becoming the tournament’s top scorer.

In the second half, the hot weather did not become an obstacle for the two teams to fight for victory. In the 55th minute, Pokoć took the lead again with a goal from Maria Garcia.

Although Escazuceña tried every possible means to equalize the score, in the 92nd minute, the tournament’s top scorer, Stacy Thomas, sealed the game and ultimately helped Pocosi win 3-1.

Pocosi won the gold medal at the 41st National Games, Escazu won the silver medal, and Alajuela won the bronze medal.

The best player of the tournament was Pocosi’s goalkeeper Valeria Fernandez.
