July 3rd of every year is the International Day to Reduce Plastic Bags, and the city government departments organize several publicity activities for the public and visitors to commercial malls.
The events highlighted the need to reduce the use of single-use plastic bags and replace them with eco-friendly cloth bags in order to protect and sustain the environment and achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.
To this end, promotional publications and eco-friendly bags were distributed to the public, introducing the Ministry’s efforts to reduce the use of plastic bags, and introducing Ministerial Resolution No. 143 of 2022 on the control of plastic bag use and the Public Cleansing Law No. 18 of 2017, as amended by Law No. 6 of 2023, in addition to explaining the solid waste separation program at the source, and the related Ministerial Resolution No. 170 of 2021, as well as various entertainment and educational activities for children and the public.
