Addis Ababa, July 4, 2024 (Address) Prime Minister Abiy reiterated Ethiopia’s wishes for peace and development in Somalia.
Responding to questions raised by members of the 36th regular session of the House of Peoples’ Representatives, the Prime Minister stressed Ethiopia’s diplomatic relations with its neighbours.
Prime Minister Abiy added: “Ethiopia has paid blood sacrifices for peace in Somalia. We still hope that Somalia can develop peacefully.”
In his explanation, the Prime Minister stressed that with Ethiopia’s rapid economic growth, the country seeks to gain access to the sea on a win-win basis without harming anyone’s interests.
Prime Minister Abiy also added: “Ethiopia’s request is appropriate and acceptable. If there are any problems with this request, they can be resolved through dialogue.”
The Prime Minister also commented on the Sudanese conflict, saying Ethiopia remains committed to helping the warring parties resolve the issue peacefully.
