The attack in which five family members and a teenager “butchered” a father of seven in an “honour killing” at a funeral in Co Kerry was “tragic, heartbreaking and ridiculous and senseless”, a prosecutor’s barrister told a Central Criminal Court jury.
Making his closing statement at the trial of six murder defendants at Cork Court today, Director of Public Prosecutions Dean Kelly SC said “honour” was violated when the relationship between the daughter of the deceased, Thomas ‘Tom’ Dooley, and one of the defendants “broke down”.
