Parliamentary finance stresses need to rethink components of 2024 budget

The committee statement received by Al-Sumaria News said, “The Finance Committee headed by Atwan Al-Tatwani held its fifth meeting in the presence of its members, dedicated to discussing the overall budget timetable for 2024, today, Tuesday, May 28, 2024.”

The chairman of the committee stressed that “a comprehensive review and reconsideration of the components of the budget and a detailed study of the timeline are necessary to find a clear vision, in addition to considering the entitlement of provincial projects compared to provincial projects,” the committee chairman stressed, noting that the current financial allocation ends at the end of the fiscal year.

The meeting witnessed members speaking out, stressing “the importance of supporting the government in implementing government plans aimed at providing services to all regions, taking into account strategic projects and infrastructure projects in support of the provinces.”

The committee discussed “the possibility of making the necessary transfers and their impact on the sectors in a productive way, with a clear vision as required by the public interest, and reducing the deficit by rationalizing spending and supporting important sectors such as education and health, while focusing on supporting the private sector.”

The meeting stressed the need to “maintain the economic base in the budget, maximize the country’s imports and increase exports, make decisions based on a clear vision while taking into account their positive impacts, and emphasize the completion of government projects that will help promote economic growth and serve the general public.”
