In a press release issued on Thursday, July 4, 2024, Bangaly Camara, head of the special delegation of Kintinian (a rural commune in Siguiri province), threatened those who ignore the government’s decision to suspend artisanal gold mining in Guinea.

“As stated in a government press release, the president of the Special Delegation of the Rural Commune of Quintinian invites all citizens to impose a moratorium on artisanal gold mining. Anyone arrested for violating this measure is doing so intentionally,” warned Bangali Camara.
The head of the special delegation of Quintinian is currently away on the instructions of the security authorities of the Siguiri province. Moreover, its purpose is to implement the measure issued by the government to suspend artisanal gold and diamond mining. The measure has been in effect in Guinea since June 1. But gold miners are little aware of this, especially in the Bouré mining area. On the ground, gold miners pleaded to reduce this measure.
