Dubai will host the third edition of the Dubai Pro International Championships, which qualifies for the Mr. Olympia Professional Bodybuilding Championship, from July 26 to 28 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The event, organized by Oxygen Club with the support of Dubai Sports Council, attracted more than 800 amateur and professional athletes to compete for prize money worth more than AED1.5 million.
The organizing committee announced the details of the event at a press conference held at the Dubai Sports Council headquarters on Tuesday, attended by Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, and Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General. Ali Omar Al-Balushi, Director of the Council’s Sports Events Department, and Adel Al-Ali, Chairman of the Committee, spoke at the event. Bryon Ansley, the organizer of the competition and Mr. Olympia 2017 and 2018, spoke. Champion, 2016 Crystal Prestige Cup Champion, 2017 New York Pro Champion, 2018 Arnold Classic Champion.
The championship qualifies for the 2024 Mr. Olympia World Cup in bodybuilding, the largest championship for bodybuilding professionals, which will be held from October 10 to 13 in Las Vegas, USA, hosted by the International Federation of Bodybuilding in the United States.
Ali Omar said: “The Dubai Pro Championships is strengthening its international status in the bodybuilding community every year, as it now holds an important position at the global level of the sport, especially as it is the gateway for Arab athletes to qualify and compete in the ‘Mr. Olympia’ World Bodybuilding Championships.
Adel Al Ali said that the winner of the amateur category of the Dubai Pro Championship will be awarded the title of “Champion of Champions” and receive a professional card to compete in the Mr. Olympia competition, which is also the first time for the intermediate category. In the East, the winner of the amateur category will receive nine professional qualification cards, making them eligible to become professional athletes, while the winner of the professional bodybuilding category will receive the world’s second-highest professional bodybuilding prize money after the Mr. Olympia Championship.
Ahmed Ashkanani said: “I am very happy to speak at the Dubai Sports Council about the (Dubai Pro) Championship, which will help develop Gulf and Arab sports by providing Gulf athletes with the opportunity to qualify for the World Championships. The Dubai Pro is one of the most beautiful and best events in terms of organization and competition.”
