The Commerce House Mixed Touch Hockey Championships concluded on Monday with an exciting Grand Final match, capping off another successful campaign with Air Raro winning the Mana Division, ICI Crew winning the Moana Division and Te Mavericks Ora winning the Toa Division.

Touch Skating Association president Vou Williams said the teams’ performances were impressive, with standout individuals showcasing their talents to win for their respective teams.

In the thrilling final showdown between Courts 1 and 2, the teams showed extraordinary determination and skill; they skillfully demonstrated their abilities and tested new strategies in order to win under the tremendous pressure of the final.

The game featured stunning rushing touchdowns, enthusiastic sideline support, long passes to tight ends, effortless strides across the end zone, and dynamic diving plays to secure crucial points.

The tournament was sponsored by VANS, and the Best Female and Best Male Player awards were presented to Sunielia Tom of the KAPS team in the female category and Oscar Wichman in the male category.

They were praised for their outstanding performance and effective management of the team in the day’s prestigious Mana Division final.

Williams praised the diversity of participants, from seasoned veterans to newcomers who all enjoy the sport of touch rugby. Looking ahead, he encouraged everyone to continue attending CITA’s upcoming events to maintain the current level of enthusiasm and participation.

Twelve players from each team also received Player of the Year awards, sponsored by Vodafone Cook Islands, for their outstanding contributions throughout the tournament:

Touch rugby’s association CITA has expressed its gratitude to a number of individuals and organisations without whose help the tournament would not have been possible, including sponsors Bank of the Cook Islands, Air Rarotonga, Rarotonga Bite Time, Polynesian Tattoo, Soul Café, Tupapa Fitness Community Centre, Vaiana’s Bar & Bistro, VANS, Vodafone Cook Islands and Vonnias Limited.

Mana Division: 1st – Air Raro, 2nd – KAPS, 3rd – AIRNZ, 4th – BCI

Moana Division: 1st place – ICI Crew, 2nd place – Fiber Optics, 3rd place – Poos & Wees, 4th place – Rock College
