Colombia tied with Brazil and topped the group

Colombia and Brazil each scored one goal in the Copa America Group D match. The draw helped the coffee growers stay first in the group with 7 points.

The first half was full of adrenaline and anticipation for both teams. Colombia won the first game of the match with a free kick from James Rodriguez that hit the crossbar.

Brazil quickly responded to New Granada’s attack. In the 12th minute, Rafinha stopped the ball and shot it into the corner with his left foot, giving Canarinha a 1-0 lead.

In the 19th minute, Sanchez headed the ball and the Coffee Planters equalized the score, but the goal was ruled invalid due to his forward position.

Colombia evened the score in stoppage time after Cordoba assisted three Brazilian defenders, and Daniel Muñoz took advantage of that to put the ball into the net, tying the score at halftime.

The second half was more evenly matched. Both teams reorganized on the field and tried to create dangerous plays. In the 84th minute, Luis Diaz made a cross and Colombia had a clear chance. Diaz defined Rafael Santos Borre from the left, but the ball went over the crossbar.

At the end of the game, Andreas Pereira’s shot left the Colombian goalkeeper asking for a goal. With little time left, both teams advanced to the quarterfinals.

As a result, Colombia topped the group with 7 points, followed by Brazil with 5 points. In the quarter-finals, the New Granada team will face Panama, while Brazil will face Uruguay.
