Austria is good, but there’s always better: Türkiye wins and advances to the quarterfinals

Austrian and Turkish football players played the last match of the European Championship Round of 16 in Leipzig. Turkey performed better and won with a score of 2:1.

It was exciting from the start. Turkey took the lead 1:0 at the start of the game.

Arda Guler fired the ball into the Austrian box and the Austrians’ defence reacted so poorly that they threw the ball off the line, but Merih Demiral put the ball into the net from five metres out.

The first ten minutes were rained on all sides, with Austria equalising in the fifth minute when Christoph Baumgartner late on for a second at the second post before Turkey eliminated the danger.

Austria continued to attack as if the earlier goal didn’t bother them, but Turkey’s defense was well organised and kept the goal out until half time, going into the break with a slim advantage.

If the first half was good, the second half was even better.

Demiral then scored again in the 59th minute, doubling the national team’s lead.

However, Austria did not give up because they still had a German on the bench. In the 66th minute, Gregoric scored a goal and they responded with a goal to narrow the score gap with Austria.

The Turks seemed to be getting tired, and Austria did not stop threatening. But there was no surrender.

We remind you that Spain, Germany, Portugal, France, England, Switzerland and the Netherlands have currently qualified for the quarter-finals.
