MANZINI – An unemployed graduate caused a stir at the grand opening of the Matsapa Living Centre when she boldly shouted for a chance to speak to King Nswati III.
Mpilwenhele Matsebula (30) from Lavumisa, a 2022 graduate of South African Nazarene University (SANU), shouted out, seeking an audience with the King as he visited businesses at the Matsapa Living Centre. Matsebula met the King for the third time yesterday. She first met the King in 2018 at the Mavuso Trade Fair Centre and applied for a scholarship, which she eventually won. The graduate said she also met the King last year at the same venue. She shouted that she wanted to speak to the King, which caught his attention, and he ordered Deputy Prime Minister Thuli Dladla to receive her and report back to the King after the meeting.
Appreciation
The woman thanked the King for granting her a scholarship to continue her studies. She graduated in 2022 with a teaching degree in mathematics and science. She then jumped at the opportunity to apply for a job directly with the King. Telling her story to the Deputy Prime Minister, she said she was a twin orphan who was left to take care of her seven younger siblings at a young age. Despite the challenges she faced, Matsebula was determined to continue her education and create a better future for herself and her family. She also revealed that when the king learned of her graduation, he was impressed by her dedication and hard work and ordered her to be given a job. Unfortunately, she did not get the job, which prompted her to ask the king for help. After hearing Matsebula’s story, the Deputy Prime Minister was moved by her determination and resilience. She pledged to help Matsebula and her siblings and ensure they had the support they needed to make ends meet.
