Chef Smith was arrested and detained by the Los Angeles Police Department on suspicion of fraud

Sources said that Chef Smith was arrested for defrauding sponsors and was detained at the La Police Station. According to reports, Chef Smith was accused of defrauding Amadia Shopping Mall, one of his cooking marathon sponsors, of a huge sum of Ghana Cedis 350,000.

The Ghanaian chef was arrested on Tuesday (July 2) while announcing his record-breaking achievement at the Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.

In March 2024, Chef Smith began his record attempt, cooking for a total of 820 hours.

Chef Smith has been cooking for over a month. On March 5, his cooking marathon attracted many celebrities including Praye Tietia, Yaw Tog, Amerado, Kofi Jamar and Asakaa Boys.

During this extraordinary challenge, many celebrities including Nana Ama McBrown, Clemento Suarez, Kwaku Manu, SDK and OB Amponsah headed to Spintex’s Amadia Mall to show their support for the chef’s amazing feat.

His cook-a-thon was sponsored by Amadia Shopping Centre, Spintex, where it was held.
