Total Energies commends its partner Qatar Energy LNG and contractor SAIPEM for their outstanding achievements in safety and operational excellence.
On the occasion, Mansour Yakubov, President and Managing Director of Total Energy Qatar, presented three outstanding awards in recognition of Qatar Energy’s outstanding achievements in the LNG business: HSE Award for five consecutive years without a lost time injury in the nitrogen business, achieving 20 million man-hours in the EPCOL Project Safety, Beyond Excellence 2023 Operational Excellence Award and outstanding performance in safety, operations and production.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, which was attended by Qatar Energy LNG CEO His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, Mansour Yakubov said: “These awards reflect Qatar Energy LNG’s rigorous commitment to safety and operational excellence, as it showcases its outstanding record in the field, both in the operation of Qatar Energy’s nitrogen LNG facilities and in project implementation, as well as during dynamic and complex development phases. The brilliance of this dedication is evident. Through this operational excellence, Qatar Energy LNG has been able to set new standards in the industry.”
Mr. Khalifa Ahmed Al Sulaiti, CEO of HSE, and Mr. Ahmed Al Fadala, Director of N2 Facilities, received the HSE Award for 5 years without lost time injuries in N2 operations; The 20 million safety hours award for the EPCOL project was received by Mr. Nafez Bseiso, CEO of Major Projects, and Mr. Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi, Project Manager of NFPS/EPCOL, and the 2023 Operational Excellence Award and Outstanding Award. Mr. Ahmed Ashkanani, Director of Northern Onshore Operations, Qatar Energy LNG, recognized the performance in the areas of safety, operations and production. Key achievements of Qatar Energy LNG include the ability to produce 16 million tons of LNG for two consecutive years through innovative methods, improving the benefits of LNG Train 4 by processing additional gas. In addition, the planned shutdown of Train 5 was carried out safely and on schedule at the end of 2023, which contributed to the safety and maintenance of key components of the process, including safe work and maintenance of the liquefaction process turbines.
At another event held at Karimun Yard in Indonesia in late October 2023, SAIPEM, the main contractor for the North Field Production Sustainment Project (EPCOL), also received an award from Total Energies Qatar for achieving 15 million accident-free working hours as of 2019. Its experience in the design, engineering, procurement, supply, construction and installation of critical offshore gas infrastructure contributed to the success of the project.
