South High School students will return to campus on a normal schedule Thursday after having to leave early on Wednesday due to the detection of gas odor at the school. The Guam Department of Education, in coordination with SHS Principal Michael Menor, decided to dismiss the school at 9 a.m. on Wednesday to ensure the safety and health of students and staff, according to a news release from the Guam Department of Education. The Guam Fire Department responded to South High School at 6:45 a.m. to respond to a report of a violation. The Guam Department of Education said in a news release that the GFD investigation found a faulty gas valve and pipe corrosion as the source of the gas leak.
