Remarkable results have been achieved in poverty alleviation

Libreville, Monday, July 1, 2024 (GABONNEWS) – Gabonese Prime Minister Raymond Ndong Sima presided over on Friday in Gabon the presentation of the 2023 United Nations Annual Report.

The ceremony took place in the presence of members of the Gabonese government, the UN Resident Coordinator in Gabon, Sevina Amassari, and several diplomats based in Gabon. On the occasion, the UN agency presented to the Prime Minister a report on the first year of implementation of the 2023-2027 Sustainable Development Framework Cooperation Plan.

She stressed that close collaboration and strengthened partnerships among the 25 UN entities active in the country had enabled the Government and partners to achieve significant results in key areas, including human rights, governance, health, education and training, social protection, employment, and others.

The Transitional Prime Minister was keen to congratulate the host for the work done by his agency. “I would like to congratulate all stakeholders for the positive impact your agencies are having in finding solutions for the country to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2023. I congratulate all entities of the United Nations Country Team in Gabon,” said Raymond Ndong Simma.

Regarding the comments and recommendations made, the Prime Minister said that he would study them with all members of the Transitional Government. It should be added that one of the recommendations for 2024 is to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, and for this purpose, the National Task Force will intensify its efforts around six key points of success to save Gabon’s Sustainable Development Goals. The report presented by Dr. Savina Amassari to the Heads of Government is based on the three key pillars of the Framework Cooperation Program, namely strengthening good governance and promoting human rights, supporting Gabon’s transition to a green and blue economy, and promoting development based on equal opportunities and strengthening the fight against exclusion.
