Few new e-commerce companies have risen as quickly as Temu. Launched in the fall of 2022, the company has been flooding the U.S. ad market, buying up much of the ad inventory of Facebook, Snapchat, and others. Temu is one of the most downloaded iPhone apps in the U.S., with about 50 million monthly active users, according to market BroadCast Unitedligence firm Sensor Tower.
On today’s show, we take a deep dive into Temu: how it works, how it took off so quickly in the U.S., and what it can tell us about the future of retail. Plus, we talk to a bike-loving U.S. Congressman who’s working to close a loophole that was instrumental in Temu’s meteoric rise.
