It’s an exciting time for the Guam Fire Department as it welcomes two new fire trucks. Acting Fire Chief Joey San Nicolas said the trucks arrived Monday with registration and paperwork complete and ready to be dispatched to the scene. “Sending these trucks to fully equipped fire stations for training, equipment familiarization, etc., so that the firefighters can’t get to know and use the trucks and understand their functions,” San Nicolas said. The trucks arrive at a critical time. “Fire truck operations are very challenging. Especially during this dry season. Our trucks work very hard. They go through a lot every day, they require constant maintenance, issues occur, and it’s definitely a challenge to keep them up and running,” San Nicolas added.
