An 18-year-old gay boy from Paramaribo, Suriname, was kicked out of his home by his father on Saturday night after the man discovered late in the afternoon that his son was in a relationship with a well-known politician.

Last night, when the boy was brought home by his friends, the father flew into a rage and refused to let his son into the house.

He shouted that he also didn’t need to try to find a place to sleep with his relatives because he had already warned them not to accommodate him.

GFC News has learned that the youngster is no longer welcome with his parents.

The victim’s mother has now sought the help of managers of the Kiwi International Women’s Collective (KIVC) to have a dialogue with her husband in the hope of changing his mind.

The mother is saddened by what has happened and hopes that her husband will accept that their son has romantic feelings for a political leader and that this will make him happy.

The incident once again proves that Suriname still has a lot of work to do to improve the rights of LGBT people.

Despite ongoing campaigns and efforts by various organizations, acceptance of LGBTQ+ people remains a major challenge.

Critics argue that it is necessary for society to continue working towards greater inclusion and understanding so that everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation, can live in a safe and supportive environment.
