Even by Israel’s conservative estimates, June was a difficult month for the Israeli military, especially since it had previously claimed to be ready to enter another phase of the war.

June 5: A Hezbollah drone strike hit a group of soldiers in Halfash, killing one soldier.
6 June: One soldier was killed in armed clashes behind the Rafah front line.
June 8: An officer of the Al-Yamam Special Forces was killed during an operation to rescue four captives from the Nusserat area in central Gaza. (The Israeli attack killed 272 Palestinians and injured nearly 800.)
June 10: Four soldiers were killed in an ambush inside a bomb-ridden building in central Rafah.
June 15: Eight soldiers were killed in a bomb attack on a troop carrier in Rafah. June 10: Two soldiers were killed in a tank explosion in central Gaza Strip; one soldier died of injuries sustained in a bomb attack on a building rigged with explosives in Rafah.
June 16: One soldier was killed in fighting in Rafah.
21 June: Two soldiers were killed by mortar shells in central Gaza.
June 22: A settler was killed in a shooting incident in Qalqiliya, West Bank.
June 22: One soldier was killed in fighting in Rafah.
27 June: The commander of the Young Lions Brigade sniper unit was killed by an explosive device in Jenin.
June 28: A soldier is shot dead by a Palestinian sniper during the battle of Rafah.
June 29: Two soldiers were killed in fighting in the Shejaiya neighborhood east of Gaza City.
